About SOLVE 2.0
Equipping educators to empower confident, strategic problem solvers
Designed as a Tier 2 intervention, SOLVE 2.0 provides educators with a structured approach to mathematical problem-solving instruction. The Teacher's Manual, Facilitator's Guide, and professional learning offer the instructional support needed to implement the SOLVE 2.0 learning strategy with fidelity.

Our Story
Too often, students are expected to solve mathematical word problems without ever being taught how to solve them. When they do not know where to begin, many students stop before they ever get started. Some skip the word problems altogether, and others take the numbers and guess. This is not because they lack the ability to do the math, or even that they are not a "math person;" it is because no one has made the thinking behind mathematical problem solving visible.
SOLVE 2.0 was developed from the belief that every student can become a confident, strategic problem solver when given explicit instruction and the right supports. Building on the work of Freeman-Green et al. (2015), SOLVE 2.0 integrates metacognitive strategies throughout instruction so students learn to analyze, plan, solve, and reflect on their mathematical thinking. The result is more than a strategy for solving word problems; it helps students develop the confidence and strategic thinking needed to approach mathematics with purpose.
